"DESTINY" is a story about people living their various lives under difficult situations against a background of 21st-century war. One is searching for solitude to heal from PTSD; another is running away from a prearranged marriage; a third is looking for her missing sister, a fourth for his estranged father, and a fifth discovers that he isn't who he thinks he is. After living through a deadly covert operation launched by a foreign superpower, they each end up being united and finding not only each other but themselves.
How does this book relate to your real-life experiences?
I have pulled from the headlines and articles recently propagated to the public and used them for the background for this human interest story. How the impossible and the improbable become possible even under the most extreme situations.
How long did it take to write the book?
It took eight months from concept to rough draft, initial edits, final edit, and proofing to finally see this novel published on 09/18/2023.
What inspired you to write the book?
With the ever-increasing integration of technology into our lives by way of AI, hybrid robotics, and drone technology within the home and for defense, we are seeing a paradigm shift like nothing that has ever been seen since the Manufacturing Revolution. Will it be used for good or evil - only time will tell. This story points out how in one instance its use can be devastating and how humanity can and must rise up to meet its challenges and keep it under control, lest it controls us.
Let's talk about the writing process. Did you have a writing routine? Did you do any research, and if so, what did that involve?
I write during the night and early morning hours. The process for writing this book and others involves research, hard work, and diligence.
What do you hope your readers come away with after reading your book?
Breaking down a seemingly difficult goal into manageable pieces and using reasoning and wit, can lead to success and, yes, the desire to rush out and buy another of my books.

Excerpt from this novel:
"Colt Colburn suddenly felt the ground abruptly rise beneath his feet, followed by a concussive force. The power behind the force threw him through the air with such force that it caused him to black out."
"Standing dead still, he peered through the blackness around him. "What was it?" He asked himself. Then he saw it as a shaft of moonlight broke through the trees. It illuminated a long, thin wire that stretched across the path in front of him. Here and there, tiny forked sticks poked into the ground and held the wire about two inches off its surface. Just high enough to catch on someone's toe. He was willing to bet that at one of the two ends was attached to a Claymore Mine, IED, or something of its equivalent."
"Cam MaClosky, we feel you should know about certain information that has come to our attention. As you may have heard, we are continuously updating our software; some of it is now AI-supported. This means it runs on its own, filtering through tons of information, making comparisons, running it through all sorts of algorithms, and spitting out information that may have been requested only seconds ago. In this instance, it had been running random DNA for family matches, including brother and sister. In your case, you are not who you think you are."
